LCSD launches mental health campaign with support from Imperial Cold Lake
LAKELAND - Thanks to a $35,000 grant from Imperial, the Lakeland Catholic School Division is able to move forward with their Mental Health Matters Campaign.
The initiative will focus on the mental wellbeing of our students by reducing stigma, increasing awareness, creating support groups, and sharing resources within the community.
Over the course of the next few months, Lakeland Catholic will be putting our students’ mental health in the forefront.
“The pandemic has been hard on all of us, but most of all, our students,” Superintendent Pamela Guilbault said. “Their lives have been turned upside down - classes shifting on and offline, extra-curricular activities being cancelled, not being able to gather with friends and family - it can be a challenge and put pressure on their mental health.”
She continued, “That is why we have created the Lakeland Catholic School Division Mental Health Matters Campaign - to help our students spot the symptoms and know when and where they can get help when they need it.”
The campaign is being funded through a grant provided by Imperial.
“We are so grateful for their contribution to this campaign. It proves that they also see how vital our students’ mental wellbeing is to their overall day-to-day lives, including their school work,” Guilbault said.
“We value our long-standing relationship with Lakeland Catholic School Division; together we are making a positive difference,” said James Breidenbach, Imperial’s Cold Lake Operations Asset Manager. “Our collective experiences during COVID continue to teach us the importance of investing in mental health community services and programs and Imperial remains committed to supporting this important issue in the Lakeland area and across Canada.”
